Farmworkers in Canada

In 2006 there were 229,373 farms with a total farm population of 684,260 - 2.2% (of wich 642,715 - rural and 41,540 - urban), from a total of 31,511,587 population of Canada and 6,216,135 rural population in Canada.[1]

In 2011, the total labour force was 17,990,080.[2]

The forest industry in Canada employs about 600,000 people, largely in harvesting, milling, processing and manufacturing jobs. Canada’s forest products range from raw logs, timber and pulp and paper to a growing suite of bioproducts and other emerging high-value, forest-derived goods and services in demand by both domestic and international markets.[3]

In 2001 there were 246,923 farms with a total farm population of 729,405 - 2.4% (of wich 697,960 - rural and 31,445 - urban), from a total of 29,914,315 population of Canada and 6,053,467 rural population in Canada.[1]
